Example Bookkeeping App
Leah Park’s books
This is dummy Making Tax Digital software. It belongs to the example organisation ‘Example Bookkeeping App’. Leah Park, a picture framer who also lets a flat, keeps her records in it and sends her quarterly updates with it.
It uses the calculator’s Making Tax Digital helpers with its API key. Leah answers on the calculator’s pages and comes back here with the result.
Her next update is quarterly update 2 for 2026 to 2027, due by 7 November 2026. HMRC has her updates up to 5 July 2026.

‘Work out my tax so far’ uses quarterly update 2 for 2026 to 2027, the latest whose period has ended. ‘Explain HMRC’s latest estimate’ sends the calculation the app read from the dummy HMRC. HMRC also holds £4,000 of trading losses from earlier years that this app does not know about. ‘Get my tax return ready’ uses the totals of her fourth update for 2026 to 2027.
